Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

Many thanks for replying. Yes, I’m using a 3006 (AXE-16000) as the main and various AX 3004 nodes (shown in my signature). I’m not running a guest network and I’ve not started tinkering with VLAN yet. This is just normal WiFi. The nodes all broadcast 5Ghz using the 2.4Ghz SSID name. Only the...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

Having done some more digging on my node 5Ghz issue this morning, it seems that some sort of smart connect is being used for just the nodes as I can connect to 5GHz it’s just that the SSID is displayed as my 2.4GHz SSID name. Very odd. HB

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

I fully appreciate that AiMesh is closed source and RMerlin cannot change / fix anything. None of my nodes are broadcasting 5Ghz WiFi. 5Ghz is enabled on each node and each states broadcasting but they are not. Anyone else with an AXE-16000 as the main experiencing the same? HB

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.4 Beta is now available

Great to see that the GT-AXE16000 is finally getting this (beta) 3006 release. Flashed this morning and all working fine. Asus have also finally fixed the AiMesh bind bugs in this release (clients would drop off the network completely if bound to any access point) which I never thought would get...

Release ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_36382 (2025/03/12)

I wonder if Merlin’s is the same or whether he’s kept the previous Speedtest version? Looks like there is an alpha version up. HB

The download folder shows as empty for me. Is this the right link or have the firmwares been pulled? Thanks HB

    AiMesh Binding erratic?

Thank you for such a comprehensive reply! I will get the bound list first as you suggest. HB

    AiMesh Binding erratic?

I’ve an issue where if I bind clients they stick to the node for a few minutes and then drop off the network completely. The only way to recover this is to reboot, let them connect and quickly un-bind them before they drop off again. I’m wondering if my list is full/corrupt in NVRAM too which...

    Gigaset.net services have ended

Gigaset have been acquired and their Gigaset.net services have now been switched off. I was using their weather service on this which gave a 3 day forecast on their VoIP phones. There is an option on the base to enter a new info provider. Does anyone know of another provider that will work with...

    Small AiMesh Node

How about a small repeater/AIMesh node like https://www.asus.com/uk/networking-iot-servers/range-extenders/all-series/rp-ax58/ Or https://www.asus.com/uk/networking-iot-servers/range-extenders/all-series/rp-ax56/ HB

Bought the Asus AX5700 Dual-band RT-AX86U Pro router.. Should I pay $50 more for the Asus AX6000 or AXE7800?

Your RT-AX86U Pro is an excellent router. The RT-AX88U Pro is slightly better and also has both a 2.5Gb LAN and WAN port. Whether it's worth an extra $50 I'm not sure. The RT-AXE7800 adds the WiFi 6 extended band (AXE) but loses a 2.5Gb port. The 86 or 88 pro are the better choice IMO unless you...

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

The 3006 firmware’s main draw seems to be the VLAN capability. Bar ring-fencing multiple LANs from others where additional security is needed, does this bring other benefits to home users who are currently happily running one LAN? Are there any performance gains to be had for example? Thanks! HB
